Artist Statement

I am astonished by the speed and variety of technological developments which accelerate the pace of contemporary society. In response, my sound and video explorations seek sanctuaries; slowing things down for observers and sharing a protected space to rest within, if only for a few moments. I believe there are transformative, healing qualities in closer interactions with seemingly mundane things.

The limitless manifestations that are observed through the improvisational creation and performance of electronic audiovisual materials drive me to seek collaborative interactions between compositional systems, machines, and myself. In holding space to facilitate an emergence of indeterminate phenomenon through analog synthesis, feedback systems, and field recordings, I combine elements from multiple sources to celebrate shapes, patterns, and spaces.

I hold an MFA in Electronic Integrated Arts from Alfred University at the New York College of Ceramics in Alfred NY, and BAs in Art and English from Andrews University in Berrien Springs MI. I have been artist in residence at the Keyes Preserve in Harrington ME, Alfred University in Alfred NY, Signal Culture in Owego New York, at Sachaqa Centro De ARTE in San Roque Peru. My audiovisual works are held in the permanent collections of The South Bend Museum of Art, and Alfred University.  My exhibitions and performances have been featured across Peru, at The MuseumsQuartier in Vienna, and throughout the Midwest of America.
